Role Overview
Technical writers design, author, and update product documentation and training materials. It is typically presented in the form of documentation, but can also include UI text, videos, or other educational resources. Whatever the medium, technical writers should be capable of describing complex concepts in a manner that is useful to the product’s users.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Write, design, and structure technical material targeted at product users, focusing on onboarding-oriented content that emphasizes use cases and technical concepts.
- Organize and process complicated documentation projects and coordinate and prioritize requests when working in several cross-functional teams.
- Rework, explain, and improve documents produced by engineers, the QA team, and others.
- Manage created documentation, establish documentation unmet needs, and direct new projects.
- Establish document standards and set best practices throughout the organization.
- Be proficient in technical writing and leadership by reviewing the content, proofreading, editing, and delivering constructive criticism.
